Brigitte Bardot Fashion Icon…Imagine That

Brigitte Bardot born 28 September 1934 in Paris is a French former actress, singer and fashion model, now an animal rights activist. She was one of the best known fashion icon for her sexy image and free spirit in the 1950s and 1960s. She is still a inspiration to fashion and hair designers everywhere! She was ahead of her time and one of my inspirations to recreate her sexy hair and iconic look. I have done many photo shoots and made some videos creating Bardot hair styles and having fun with models to bring her image in present time. In fashion, the Bardot neckline (a wide open neck that exposes both shoulders) is named after her. Bardot popularized this style which is especially used for knitted sweaters or jumpers although it is also used for other tops and dresses.

Bardot had a major effect on Pop Culture her messy sexy beehive hairstyle and her clothes and free spirit, she was a international success. She was the subject for the iconic Andy Warhol Bardot painting.  She sang and dabbled in pop music and played the role as a Glamour model on many magazines. Bardot was idolized by the young John Lennon and Paul McCarneyThey made plans to shoot a film featuring The Beatles and Bardot, similar to A Hard Day's Night but the plans were never fulfilledLennon's first wife Cynthia lightened her hair color to more closely resemble Bardot, while George Harrison made comparisons between Bardot and his first wife Pattie Boyd, as Cynthia wrote later in A Twist of Lennon. Also Bob Dylan dedicated the first song he ever wrote to Bardot. He also mentioned her by name in "I Shall Be Free", which appeared on his second album," The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan.
Bardot was an aspiring ballerina in early life. She started her acting career in 1952 and, after appearing in 16 routine comedy films with limited international release, became world-famous in 1957 with the controversial And God Created Women. Bardot was nominated for a BAFTA Award for best Foreign Actress for her role  1965 film Viva Maial. Bardot caught the attention of French intellectuals. She was the subject 1959 essay which described Bardot as a "locomotive of women's history" and built upon existentialist themes to declare her the first and most liberated woman of post-war France.
Bardot retired from the entertainment industry in 1973. During her career in show business, she starred in 47 films, performed in several musical shows, and recorded over 60 songs. She was awarded the Legion of Honor in 1985, but refused to receive it.After her retirement, Bardot established herself as an animal rights activist. Her iconic spirit, and fashion image is still current in todays world and the Bardot inspiration lives on!

1. Make-up can only make you look pretty on the outside but it doesn't help if you're ugly on the inside. Unless you eat the make-up.

2. I was born with an enormous need for affection, and a terrible need to give it.
